SURE Brewing started with two old mates, John Cope-Williams and Steve Matthews, and a simple idea: make great beer, listen to great music and have a good time doing it.

John spent years championing brilliant beer through Melbourne venues and Better Beer Imports. Steve spent those same years actually making the stuff at breweries including Bridge Road, Hargreaves Hill and Golden Hills. They met through beer, bonded over music and eventually decided to make something of their own.

SURE launched in Melbourne in 2022. We’re small, independent and currently taproom-free - which means there’s no enormous beer garden, souvenir shop or brewery dog waiting to greet you. Yet.

The Beers

No zero-carb promises, watery compromises or beers designed by a marketing committee. We make full-flavoured beer that we genuinely want to drink.

Our range moves between greatest hits and future classics: crisp lagers, punchy pale ales, proper pilsners, bitter IPAs and whatever else Steve decides needs to exist.

Everything is independently brewed with love, respect and a healthy disregard for boring beer.

AWARDS AND STUFF

We’ve collected some shiny things along the way, which is always nice. Beer people tasted our beer, wrote serious notes, held it up to the light and occasionally decided it deserved a medal.

We’re proud of the recognition, but the award we really want is the involuntary nod that happens after the first sip.
